  • consultancy in Slovak and Czech environmental legislation

Biogas plants

In cooperation with its mother company, Menert Ltd., as an exclusive partner of the technological-engineering firm Ing. Friedrich Bauer, GmbH, Austria, Menert Biotech brings top technological solutions to the biogas market with the operation of plants. Technological solutions process biodegradable waste.

What can we process?

  • agricultural waste (barn manure, dung-water, corn silage, grass silage and other wastes from production)
  • organic waste from cafeterias (in schools, hospitals, companies)
  • leftover food from restaurants
  • groceries passed their expiry date
  • grass clippings
  • wastewater from sewage tanks
  • organic waste from the food industry
  • organic waste from slaughter-houses and meat processing plants
  • and more

What are the results?

  • cleaner air and environmental protection
  • better looking and cleaner towns and regions
  • a local solution to organic waste in surrounding areas
  • a solution to problems with cesspools in villages without sewage tanks
  • good quality biogas
  • electricity generation from cogeneration
  • heat for central heating and a supply of hot water for the municipal sector
  • heat for the industrial sector
  • excellent fertilizer for use in agriculture and gardening
  • new job opportunities

Biomas

MENERT – Biotech, Ltd. offers its services in the area of renewable energy resources. Our main intention is to utilize alternative fuels with the purpose of decreasing the cost of heat. The Engineering-projection team provides consulting and project services in this area. The company also provides the reconstruction of boiler houses to renewable energy resources and operation according to customer needs.

Biomass refers to biological material which can be used as fuel or for industrial production. Biomass most commonly refers to plant matter grown for use as biofuel, but also includes plant or animal matter. Biomass may also include biodegradable wastes.

Wood is the most commonly used biomass. Wood as a fuel can come in several versions – such as lump wood, wood waste (wood chips and wood pellets) and it can be grown as a special energetic plant e.g. willow.

Wood chips are burnt in special incinerators that provide at least 35 kW of power. The efficiency of burning wood chips is 87% at the maximum power output of the boiler. The non-homogeneous composition of wood chips and the fluctuations in humidity require a stabilized operation system of the incinerator with the consumption of 300-400 kg of wood chips per hour of operation system for each MW of heat power.

Straw is one of the most suitable kinds of biomass and its use as an energy source is increasing rapidly. With the low amount of annual precipitation in the low lying areas of southern Slovakia, straw provides great potential in heat production. For straw to be suitable for burning in boilers its humidity shouldn’t be over 20%. Straw bales from agricultural cereals are compressed into square or rounded bales weighing 250 kg.

Straw as an alternative energy source represents a perspective product in the process of biomass use. This is beneficial from several points of view such as easy access, good fuel efficiency and environmentally friendly as well.

From an environmental point of view there is a big difference between fossil biomass and renewable biomass. With the use of fossil fuels the environment is more greatly affected. The combustion of fossil fuels adds to the carbon dioxide content of the atmosphere. Contrary to the burning of fresh biomass which has greenhouse emissions that are neutral.
